A Hindu temple in Hong Kong designed and built in 30 days.

This small Hindu temple or “Mandhir” is designed to evoke a perception of humble majesty and is built entirely in white baked finish wood and marble using contemporary neo-classical European and Indian style elements.
The design drawings were completely hand-drawn (with many elements constructed based primarily on free-hand drawn sketches), and construction was completed over a very short period of just 27 days.

Mood effects were created using red and blue LED lighting for auspicious ambience and visual excitement.
This temple also features a multi-media larger-than-life sized portrait of the former head priest ( to whom this temple name is dedicated to ), and a full height digital portrait of the 5-faced Lord Hanuman—both created specially for the temple by SAI.

The temple is located in Wanchai on Hong Kong island, and is open to public.

As with all of my work, I immerse myself in a momentary trance of commitment towards fruitful accomplishment of the task laid out. By the grace of god, this project is my childhood architect’s dream realized.
